Rabies Guidelines/Recommendations
For human risk of rabies, the primary national guideline is the "Human Rabies Prevention" developed by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and published in 1999 by CDC (see first document below). For animal rabies, the primary national guideline is the "Compendium of Animal Rabies Prevention and Control", most recently updated for 2006 (see second document below). State guidelines provide additional clarification on the application of the national guidelines within New York State.
